Vic Firth’s Corpsmaster series of marching sticks and mallets have been field tested, field, approved, and field proven by drumlines all around the world. The Corpsmaster series is the result of years of research and development with the earth’s finest drum and bugle corps. The majority of the line is crafted with hickory for added strength and durability to meet the demands of the marching field. The signature sticks within the Corpsmaster line meet the rigorous standards and qualifications of each artist in terms of balance, feel, projection. 

Billy Bachman is the marching multi-tenor drum guru. he has instructed many of Drum Corps International’s top groups including Carolina Crown, Bluecoats, and Blue Knights. He also worked with Vic Firth to design their line of Heavy Hitter Pads. Bachman’s Corpsmaster Signature “Billy Club” is a continuation of the partnership of collaboration between him and Vic Firth. Crafted out of hickory, the Billy Club features an increased shank thickness for a higher quality of rimshot sounds and durability of the sticks. The stick is also lighter weight for agility and speed around the drums. All of this is done with out sacrificing the integrity of sound the sticks produce that is characterized as big and dark. The Clubs have been updated to have a bead design minimize drumhead damage while also producing a great sound. The drop-down fulcrum notch in the stick gives the front fingers better feel for quick finesse passages. Meanwhile, the back of the stick tapers up to match the contour of the hand for maximum comfort. Bachman himself says, “My new ‘Billy Clubs’ still go ‘boom’ with a big sound!
